DELAYED BRAKING ACTION.
The front brake discs/pads could be affected by slush water or salt when driving in snow or heavy rain. This could adversely affect the efficiency of the brakes upon initial application.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the front brake disc shields with modified units giving increased weather protection.
WIRING MAY CHAFE ON BRAKE PIPE
As a result of engine movement a wiring harness may chafe on a steel brake pipe adjacent to the brake master cylinder. This could cause short circuiting and possible loss of braking efficiency should the brake fluid temperature rise as a result.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of a modified clip to the wiring harness. Additionally the harness will be sheathed for additional protection in the area adjacent to the brake pipe.
EXHAUST DOWNPIPE MAY MOVE AND CONTACT WIRING LOOM
It is possible that the exhaust downpipe may separate from the upper flange and drop onto the starter motor terminal causing damage to the vehicle wiring loom. This may result in the loss of various electrical circuits.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the exhaust downpipe with the current production component.

HUB BEARING INTEGRITY
The hub bearings in some TE 9000 axles may be liable to premature failure. If not detected this could result in hub seizure or wheel and hub detachment.
Supply sufficient replacement hubs and bearings to all operators of affected trailers and monitor the return rate of displaced units to ensure full coverage of the vehicle parc.
THE GEAR LEVER POSITION MAY NOT MATCH THE TRANSMISSION MODE SELECTED
The transmission shift cable lock pin may become ineffective. In consequence the gear lever position may not match the actual gear position selected in the transmission.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the lock pin with a modified type.

FRONT BRAKE PIPE CHAFE CONDITION
It is possible that the front brake pipe may be contacted by the anti-roll bar link rod. In extreme conditions this may result in fluid leakage and partial loss of braking.
The affected vehicles will be recalled and inspected for contact between the brake pipes and the anti-roll bar link. If no contact has taken place the pipe(s) will be re-set to ensure adequate clearance . Any pipes showing signs of contact will be replaced
APPLICATION OF PARKING BRAKE
Due to the possibility of incomplete application of the parking brake by the driver the vehicle could roll away when parked.
The manufacturer will write to all Xantia owners enclosing an amendment for insertion in the vehicle handbook. This will amplify and reinforce the instructions relating to the operation of the parking brake.
1) BONNET CATCH MECHANISM MAY LOOSEN. 2) SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONERS MAY BE FAULTY.
1) Bonnet catch securing bolts may slacken in service allowing movement of the lock mechanism. This may result in the bonnet lifting. 2) Autoliv-Klippan seat belt pre-tensioners may be faulty.
1. Replace the bonnet catch fixing bolts with screws and lock nuts. 2. Substitute any Autoliv-Klippan pre-tensioners with TRW-REPA equipment.
STEERING GEAR SECURITY
The bolts securing the steering gear to its mounting bracket may be loose.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the steering gear mounting bolts for tightness. Where bolts are found to be loose the mounting brackets and bolts will be examined for damage. Damaged bolts will be replaced and any burring of the bracket removed.

Recall the affected vehicles and check the steering gear mounting bolts for tightness. Where bolts are found to be loose the mounting brackets and bolts will be examined for damage. Damaged bolts will be replaced and any burring of the bracket removed.
FAILURE OF SUSPENSION TRAILING ARM
Suspension trailing arms may fracture forward of the axle beam. This may result in damage to the suspension or detachment of the axle.
Recalled trailers to be modified in 3 areas to reduce the stress levels and maintain tightness at the connection between the trailing arms and the axle beam viz 1)Replace axle bracket location plates with tee shaped key plates. 2) Replace square U-bolt
FRONT BRAKE HOSES MAY FOUL TYRES
On vehicles fitted with ABS the front brake hoses can foul the tyres on full lock.
Recall the affected vehicles and alter the fixing and routing of the front brake hoses to ensure that they cannot foul the tyres when the steering is on full lock.

REAR WHEEL LOCK UP UNDER BRAKING
Under extreme circumstances rear wheel lock up could occur during heavy braking. This is due to the fitment of an incorrect brake modulator valve.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the original brake modulator valve with a modified example.
CRACKING OF CARAVAN STABILISER
It is possible that cracking may occur around the rear fixing holes of the stabiliser housing.
Recall the affected caravans and replace the original stabilisers with quality assured units.
POSSIBLE BREAKAGE OF ACCELERATOR CABLE
There is a risk of accelerator cable breakage due to cable kinking when the accelerator pedal is released suddenly.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of a modified accelerator pedal.
INSUFFICIENT TORQUEING OF PROPELLOR SHAFT COUPLING BOLTS
The bolts coupling the propellor shaft to the differential and/or the bolts coupling intermediate propellor shaft sections may not be sufficiently torqued.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the torque of the subject bolts retorqueing where necessary.

REAR HEATER BLOWER RESISTOR MAY OVERLOAD
The rear heater blower resistor can become electrically overloaded due to binding or seizure of the heater blower. The overloaded resistor may become hot enough to ignite the plastic air pipe in which it is located.
Recall the affected vehicles for the installation of a modified resistor unit which incorporates a thermal link.
KING PIN MOUNTING MAY LOOSEN
The aluminium couplers have been found to have cracks in the welds attaching the crossmembers to the side members. This could result in the trailer becoming uncoupled from the tractive unit
The complete upper coupler to be replaced by Fruehauf with a fully checked and modified replacement.
SHOCK ABSORBER UPPER MOUNTING FAILURE
The shock absorber top bracket may fail leading to a deterioration in handling quality
The affected trailers are being recalled for strengthening of the shock absorber top brackets.
