Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 May 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and Service Stamp Ltd (Company No. 17159900), a company registered in England and Wales, trading as RecallClear ("we", "our", "us", or "the Service"). By accessing and using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
RecallClear offers a single product: a one-off £1.99 UK vehicle safety recall check by number plate, drawing on combined DVSA and SMMT recall data.
2. Service Description
2.1 What We Provide
RecallClear sells a single product:
- UK Vehicle Recall Check (£1.99): a one-off check that takes the UK number plate (VRM) you enter and returns whether the vehicle is subject to any open manufacturer safety recalls, drawing on combined DVSA and SMMT recall data.
- Lifetime access to the resulting report via a unique shareable URL (the data reflects what DVSA/SMMT held at the time the check ran).
2.2 What We Do NOT Provide
Our reports do not include:
- Service history, MOT history, or dealership service records
- Outstanding finance, write-off, salvage or stolen-vehicle checks
- Vehicle valuation, condition or mechanical inspection
- Title or ownership verification
- Subscriptions, alerts or ongoing monitoring. Every check is a single one-off lookup
A RecallClear report is a snapshot of recall data held by DVSA and SMMT at the moment the check was generated. It is not a guarantee that recall work has or has not been carried out. That information is held by the franchised dealer network for the relevant manufacturer.
3. Service Limitations
3.1 Data Sources
Recall information is sourced from a licensed third-party VRM Recall Check provider, which combines:
- Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA): UK government safety recall records
- Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT): manufacturer-supplied recall data covering UK-marketed vehicles
We do not own, control, or verify the underlying data. The information we provide is only as accurate and complete as the data supplied to us by these sources.
3.2 Data Accuracy Caveats
Important: please read this section carefully. While we endeavour to surface accurate and up-to-date recall information, we make no warranties, representations or guarantees (whether express, implied or statutory) regarding the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any third-party data; whether the information is current or has been updated by our data providers; the absence of errors, omissions or inaccuracies; or whether every recall affecting a vehicle has been reported to DVSA or SMMT.
Reasons why data may be incomplete or inaccurate include:
- Newly issued recalls take time to propagate from manufacturers and DVSA into recall databases
- Some recalls are voluntary manufacturer service campaigns and may not appear in DVSA records
- Vehicles imported into the UK from other markets may carry recalls that were issued in their original market and are not present in UK databases
- Whether a recall has been remedied on a specific vehicle is held by the manufacturer's franchised dealer network and is not part of the recall record we surface
- Human error in data entry or VIN-to-VRM matching at any point in the data chain
A RecallClear report is one input to your due diligence, not the final word. If we flag an open recall, contact a franchised dealer for the relevant manufacturer to book the (free) remedial work and confirm whether it applies to your specific vehicle. If we report no open recalls, you can still check directly with the manufacturer.
3.3 No Guarantee of Recall Status
A "no open recalls" result means the combined DVSA/SMMT data we receive shows no outstanding safety recall against the registration mark you supplied at the time the check ran. It is not a certification of vehicle safety, roadworthiness or recall-completion status. New recalls can be issued at any time; data providers can take time to reflect them.
4. Pricing and Payment
4.1 Service Fee
- UK Vehicle Recall Check: £1.99 per check (single SKU, no tiers)
Each fee is a one-time payment providing lifetime access to the resulting report. There are no subscriptions, recurring charges or upsells.
4.2 Payment Processing
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe
- We accept major credit and debit cards
- Payment must be completed before report generation
- All prices include applicable UK VAT
4.3 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect orders already paid for.
5. Refund Policy
Because a recall check is a digital service that we begin to perform (and incur a third-party data charge for) as soon as your payment is confirmed, you expressly request immediate performance at checkout and acknowledge that this waives your statutory right of cancellation under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once the report has been delivered. See our Refund Policy for the full detail.
5.1 Automatic Refunds on Failure
If our recall data provider is unreachable, returns an error, or times out, we automatically issue a full £1.99 refund to your original payment method and email you to let you know. You do not need to ask.
5.2 Manual Refund Cases
You will receive a full £1.99 refund in the following additional scenarios:
- Registration not found: the registration mark you supplied is not recognised by DVSA/SMMT (e.g. typo, recently issued plate not yet in the database, or vehicle not registered in the UK).
- Duplicate purchase: you accidentally paid for the same check twice within a short timeframe.
- Incorrect registration entered by us: we processed a registration different from the one you submitted at checkout.
5.3 No Refund Cases
We cannot offer refunds in the following situations:
- Report shows no open recalls: a "no recalls found" result is a successful answer to the question you paid us to ask. The absence of recalls is itself useful information.
- User error, incorrect registration entered: if you typed the wrong number plate and we successfully ran a check for it, no refund is available. Always double-check before submitting.
- Change of mind after viewing the report: once the report has been delivered, the digital service has been performed and cannot be "returned".
- Misunderstanding of product scope: RecallClear checks UK safety recalls only. If you bought it expecting MOT history, service history, outstanding finance or other vehicle data, that does not qualify for a refund.
- Third-party issues beyond our control: if you cannot access your report due to email filtering, spam blocks or internet connectivity issues on your end, no refund is available, but contact us and we'll resend the link.
5.4 Refund Request Process
For the scenarios in Section 5.2, to request a refund:
- Email us at hello@recallclear.co.uk within 30 days of purchase
- Include the registration mark and email address used for the order
- Briefly explain why you're requesting a refund
- We will review your request within 24-48 hours
- If approved, refunds are processed via Stripe and appear on your card within 5-10 business days
6. User Responsibilities
By using our Service, you agree to:
- Provide an accurate UK vehicle registration mark
- Use the Service for lawful purposes only
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer or abuse our systems
- Not use automated tools to make bulk requests
- Keep your report URLs secure (they grant access to anyone with the link)
- Not share or resell reports for commercial purposes without permission
7. Intellectual Property
The reports we generate are for your personal use. You own the right to use your purchased report for:
- Checking the recall status of a vehicle before purchase
- Sharing the report with a buyer, seller or dealer involved in the transaction
- Personal record-keeping
The RecallClear website, branding and software remain our intellectual property.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We provide reports "as is" based on combined DVSA and SMMT data supplied to us by a licensed third-party provider
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on report information
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages
- We are not liable for losses arising from inaccuracies, errors or omissions in data supplied to us by DVSA, SMMT or our data provider
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant report (£1.99)
- We do not warrant that recall databases are complete, error-free or current at any given moment
Important: a RecallClear report is one tool in your vehicle due diligence. Always conduct a physical inspection, verify documents (V5C, MOT certificates, service history) and consider an independent mechanical check before purchasing a used car.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to:
- Refuse service to anyone for any lawful reason
- Terminate or suspend access for violations of these Terms
- Discontinue the Service at any time (with reasonable notice)
Reports you've already purchased will remain accessible even if we discontinue the Service generally.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Before pursuing legal action, we encourage you to contact us at hello@recallclear.co.uk to resolve issues amicably.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page

- Notice on our homepage
Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
