POSSIBLE INSECURITY OF BRAKE PEDAL
It is possible that the bolt retaining the brake pedal may become loose. This could result in the pedal going to the floor and not returning causing a loss of braking control.
Recall vehicles to check the brake pedal and if necessary tighten the securing bolt.
POSSIBLE INSECURITY OF STEERING RACK
It has been identified that there is a risk that the rack to subframe bolts have been overtightened with the possibility of the bolts and/or rack mounting points cracking/breaking. This could lead to noise/vibration or loss of steering accuracy.
Recall affected vehicles examine the steering rack mounting bolts. Renew the mounting bolts/nuts and replace the steering rack if the mounting points are cracked or broken.
POSSIBLE INADVERTANT RELEASE OF HANDBRAKE
It has been identified that there is a possibility of premature wear of the handbrake lever ratchet leading to potential disengagement of the handbrake.
Recall affected vehicles and where necessary replace the original handbrake with a quality assured unit.
POSSIBLE FAILURE OF ROAD WHEEL
It has been identified that there is a possibility that the inner edge of the alloy wheels may have been deformed when fitting the tyres. This may result in the wheel breaking.
Recall affected vehicles check the wheels for damage with a special gauge and renew where necessary.
BRAKE PIPE CONNECTOR MAY CRACK AND LEAK
On some right hand drive 156 vehicles the brake master cylinder supply pipe connectors could develop cracks and leak hydraulic fluid with a possible reduction in braking efficiency of one of the two circuits.
Recall potentially affected vehicles and replace suspect connectors and two rubber flexible pipes on the brake master cylinder with new upgraded ones.
FRACTURE OF FRONT COIL SPRINGS
The anti noise plastic shields fitted to the bottom of the front suspension coil springs may permit the accumulation of a high level of humidity under certain environmental conditions. When combined with the presence of salt and small stones etc. this condition may cause breakage of the spring(s) and subsequent tearing of the tyre as a result of the fractured coils contacting the tyre wall.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for the fitment of a modified ventilated spring sheath and inspection of the front coil springs.

FRACTURE OF FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRING
There is a possibility that the front suspension coil spring could break. Should this occur the unseated section of the spring could puncture the tyre.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for examination of the front coil springs and the installation of a protector which would prevent a broken coil spring from penetrating the tyre.

INTERFERENCE BETWEEN HANDBRAKE CABLES AND REAR BRAKE PIPES
Potential interference between handbrake cables and rear brake pipes could lead to wear of brake pipes and in extreme circumstances loss of brake fluid which could reduce the effectiveness of the footbrake.
Recall potentially affected vehicles for a check that adequate clearance exists and realignment of the pipes if needed.

POSSIBLE PREMATURE WEAR OF HANDBRAKE RATCHET PAWL
Premature wear of the handbrake ratchet pawl may lead to inadvertent release of the handbrake. Problem of material hardness discovered in Quality Control tests.

POSSIBLE FAILURE OF REAR SUSPENSION LOCATING LINKS
Land Rover have identified a weld integrity concern associated with the rear suspension links on Freelander models. Should the weld fracture the stability of the rear hub assembly could be impaired. This may cause the vehicle to deviate from a straight line under normal driving conditions. To protect the long term integrity of these components Land Rover are implementing recall action on all Freelander models within the affected VIN range.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the rear suspension links with quality assured units.
FAILURE OF EMERGENCY DOOR
Rear emergency exit door frame may fracture.
Recall affected vehicles and fit reinforcing corner brackets to the top and bottom of the rear end of the door.
POSSIBLE LEAKAGE OF REFRIGERANT FROM AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
Refrigerant may leak from air conditioning system into the atmosphere due to a poor fitting pipe clip.
Recall affected vehicles and examine the security of the air conditioning unit pipes fixings. Rectify where found necessary.
POSSIBLE FLUID SEEPAGE FROM REAR BRAKE CIRCUIT
There is a possibility of seepage from the rear brake pipe unions above the spare wheel. This will lead to the need for periodic topping up or illumination of the brake fluid low level warning lamp and in extreme circumstances the effectiveness of the foot brake could be impaired.
Recall potentially affected vehicles to check and if required replace the brake pipes.
POTENTIAL COLLAPSE OF FRONT SUSPENSION
It has been identified that there is a possibility that the front suspension lower ball joint pinch bolt has been incorrectly tightened leading to potential collapse of the front suspension.
Recall all potentially affected vehicles to check and if required tighten the pinch bolt.
