POSSIBILITY THAT IMPACT DISTORTION TO FRONT SUSPENSION COULD RESULT IN SUBSEQUENT FAILURE
The lower front suspension arm mounting forks could deform after a substantial impact (for example after an accident) and should this condition remain unnoticed the eventual result could be the failure of the forks resulting in the collapse of the front suspension.
Recall affected vehicles and fit an uprated stronger mounting fork.
HEATED SEATS MAY REACH AN UNACCEPTABLY HIGH TEMPERATURE
On the vehicles affected the potential exists for the surface of each heated seat to reach an unacceptably high temperature. In extreme cases this could cause damage to anything in contact with the seat cushion.
Recall affected vehicles and fit an additional control unit to each heated seat.
ENGINE MAY SEIZE AND CAUSE REAR WHEEL TO LOCK
The cam chain adjuster may not provide consistent tension to the cam chain in the engine. This could lead to cam chain breakage. Sudden engine failure while riding could cause rear wheel lockup.
The affected machines will be fitted with a modified cam chain adjuster and modified cam chain guide number two.
POTENTIAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL
A number of service exchange steering boxes may fail due to the incorrect position of a circlip of the bevel box which could lead to the input shaft and gear to detach resulting in the loss of steering control.
Recall affected vehicles and fit a new quality assured bevel box.

POSSIBLE UNSCHEDULED DEPLOYMENT OF SIDE AIRBAGS AND ACTIVATION OF BATTERY ISOLATOR SWITCH
In certain driving conditions it is possible for the side airbags and the battery terminal (safety isolation switch) to trigger when this is not necessary ie when no accident has occurred.
Recall the affected vehicles and recode the airbag control unit.
POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT
Vehicles may have incorrect routing of the B+ wire adjacent to the injection pump possibly resulting in a short circuit.
All vehicles will be recalled through the Volvo Network for the B+ cable to be rerouted.
ENGINE DRIVE-TRAIN CONTROL UNIT EFFECTIVENESS
Current parameters of engine drive-train control unit may not effectively control wheel slip under hard acceleration in adverse conditions.
Reprogramme engine drive-train control unit.
POSSIBILITY THAT AN INCORRECT BRAKE VACUUM SERVO HAS BEEN FITTED
On Skoda Octavia LX vehicles which are not equipped with ABS brake servo units designed only for ABS vehicles have been installed. Due to the different performance of the brake servo units a risk exists that the brakes could lock under severe driving conditions (ice snow).
Recall vehicles to replace the brake servo unit.
ADJUSTABLE STEERING LOCK MAY FAIL
The column may fail to lock in position after adjusting which can leave the steering wheel in its lowest and rearmost position.
Recall affected vehicles and fit a quality assured replacement steering column.
REAR NEARSIDE ROAD WHEEL STUDS MAY FAIL
The rear nearside road wheel retaining nuts may have been over torqued which could result in failure of the wheel studs.
Replace the rear nearside road wheel studs and nuts and tighten to the correct torque.
POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE OIL SPILLAGE
Incidents have occurred where Bosch unit injectors built within a certain period can leak fuel into the engine lubrication system leading to the spillage of engine oil onto the roadway.

POSSIBLE RISK OF FUEL AND ENGINE OIL LEAKING ONTO ROAD SURFACE
Seal between fuel injector and cylinder head may have been incorrectly fitted. This could result in fuel dilution of the engine oil and subsequent spillage onto the road surface.
Recall affected vehicles and fit new cylinder head to injector seals where necessary.
THROTTLE MAY NOT RETURN TO IDLE WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS DISENGAGED
Certain of the affected vehicles could be fitted with a cruise control cable that may interfere with the cruise control servo pulley and not allow the throttle to return to idle when disengaging the cruise control.
Phase 1 - Write to owners advising them to immediately stop using the cruise control system and offering them the option of dealers disabling the system should they so wish. Phase 2 - As soon as replacement cruise control cables become available recall all affected vehicles for replacement of the cable.

In some extreme cases oil can weep from between the engine crankcase halves due to slackening of the securing bolts. This seepage occurs forward of the rear tyre and may in extreme cases cause vehicle instability.
Recall affected machines and replace the original lower crankcase bolts with quality assured bolts.

REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLY TORQUE ARM MAY BECOME DETACHED
The screw and nut that fasten the rear brake linkage to the engine mounting plate may come adrift. This fault could cause the torque arm to fall off and contact the road surface. This could result in loss of braking and rider control.
Recall affected machines and fit a modified bolt and nut to the front end of the torque arm connecting the rear brake unit to the engine mounting plate.
STEERING DRAG LINK AND TRACK ROD BALL JOINT CLAMP BOLTS MAY LOOSEN AND AFFECT THE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE
The nuts securing the drag link and track rod ball joint clamps may not have been pre-treated. As a result the tightness torque could be too low and the nuts could loosen which in extreme cases could lead to loss of steering.
Replace suspect nuts/bolts with correct version.
