PARKING BRAKE RATCHET CONCERN
The design of the parking brake ratchet teeth can allow a partial engagement resulting in damage to the tooth which can then slip to the next tooth. If ignored the wear will continue on the next tooth and the efficiency of the parking brake may become insufficient to hold the vehicle in place.
Replace parking brake lever assembly with one that has a revised tooth profile.
UNINTENTIONAL DEPLOYMENT OF PASSENGER AIR BAG
A build up of static electricity may cause unintentional deployment of the front passenger air bag.
Recall affected vehicles and fit a grounding wire between the air bag module and the vehicle body.
REAR WHEEL BEARING MAY FAIL
There is a possibility of water ingress to the rear wheel bearings. If ignored this could result in bearing failure and in extreme cases possible loss of a road wheel.
Recall affected vehicles and replace rear wheel bearings.
BRAKE REACTION TIME
On vehicles fitted with air suspension it has been found that the brake reaction time is too slow. This is due to an air flow restriction caused by the diameter of the brake piping being too small.
Recall affected vehicles for the fitment of larger diameter brake piping and connector between the front air tank and the footbrake valve.
POTENTIAL LOSS OF TURN SIGNALS AND INSTRUMENT LIGHTS
A section of the wiring harness located above the headlight is incorrectly routed. The wiring harness may become damaged and this may result in a short circuit which can in turn lead to a malfunction of the turn signals and instrument lights.
Recall the affected Motorcycles inspect the wiring harness and where appropriate repair to the harness in any damaged areas. Additionally the wiring harness will be rerouted to prevent this potential problem occurring in the future.
POSSIBLE LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID
There is a risk of internal cracking of the 4-way brake pipe unions ( non- ABS models) or the 2 x 4 - way brake pipe unions ( ABS models). This could result in a gradual loss of brake fluid and reduced braking efficiency.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the four way brake pipe unions.
TOWING BALL MOUNTING MAY CRACK
The towing ball mounting panel may flex under load and eventually crack causing the towing ball to become insecure.
Recall affected vehicles to fit towing ball mounting panel reinforcement kit.
POSSIBLE LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID
There is a risk of internal cracking of the 4-way brake pipe unions (non- ABS models) or the 2 x 4-way brake pipe unions (ABS models). This could result in a gradual loss of brake fluid and reduced braking efficiency.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the four way brake pipe unions.
STEERING DRAG LINK TUBE MAY FAIL
There is a possibility that the steering drag link tube may fracture resulting in complete loss of steering control.
Recall affected vehicles and replace drag link with a modified type.
WINDSCREEN WIPER ACTION MAY BE AFFECTED
At high speeds there is a risk that the wiper on the drivers side may become entangled with the wiper on the passenger's side which will lock wiper motion.
Recall affected vehicles and replace driver's side windscreen wiper arm and blade with modified type.
TRACTOR/TRAILER BRAKE IMBALANCE CONCERN
It has been found under certain circumstances a rubber flap located in the predominance valve chamber can become detached from its carrier plate. The flap may partially obstruct a communication port causing a higher than normal pressure being required to apply the trailer brakes. If the valve was set with predominance then a change in the braking pressures and subsequent tractor/trailer brake imbalance may result.
All predominance valves in the affected date/specification ranges are to be modified with a service kit available free of charge from Haldex.
POSSIBLE CORROSION OF FRONT SUSPENSION UPRIGHT
A build up of corrosion adjacent to the front wheel bearing bore can cause the suspension upright to crack and ultimately affect steering control.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the suspension uprights with a new design where found necessary. Fit an additional cover plate to those uprights showing no visible corrosion.
ACCELERATOR CABLE CONCERN.
The accelerator cable may break and cause a sudden loss of engine power.
Recall affected vehicles and fit a modified accelerator cable.
ENGINE LIFTING EYE CONCERN
Due to engine vibrations the nearside (left hand) lifting bracket eye may crack and possibly break when lifting the engine out.
Recall affected vehicles and cut off the eye from the engine lifting bracket.
SUSPENSION DAMPER CONCERN
The top and bottom rubber bush assemblies can become detached from the suspension damper body. In the worst case the damper could separate from the vehicle whilst it is moving.
Recall the affected trailers check the alignment of the anchorage eye bushes. Fit oversize washers to both sides of the damper bushes if alignment is correct. Replace all dampers found to have misaligned bushes.
POSSIBLE ENGINE HESITATION.
Engine exhaust gas recirculation pipe may fail and cause the vehicle to hesitate when pulling away.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the exhaust gas recirculation pipe.
OVERHEATING OF IGNITION WIRING CONNECTORS
Quality inspections by the manufacturer have revealed the possibility of a faulty connection between the high tension leads and the ignition coil. The connector could overheat if not replaced.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the ignition harness and ignition coil.
POSSIBLE FUEL LEAKAGE
Fuel leakage from the fuel pipes and common rail may occur at high pressure.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for replacement of the fuel pipes and rail with quality assured components.
ENGINE MAY CUT OUT
The camshaft sensor may fail and cause the engine to cut out
Affected vehicles are being recalled for replacement of the camshaft sensor.
UNINTENDED DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG
Possible water ingress into the electronic control unit (ECU) could result in unintentional deployment of the drivers air bag and passengers air bag where fitted.
Recall affected vehicles check for water ingress into the ECU and replace if necessary. Fit water protection to the ECU in all cases.
PARKING BRAKE EFFICIENCY MAY BE REDUCED
A potential defect in the rear brake caliper may cause the parking brake efficiency to be reduced.
Recall affected vehicles to check the operation of each brake caliper and replacement of the caliper if necessary.
BRAKE HOSE CONNECTORS CONCERN.
Possible incorrect crimping of the front flexible brake hose connectors could result in disconnection of a hose during braking.
Recall affected vehicles and replace any suspect brake hoses with new ones.
POSSIBLE UNINTENDED APPLICATION OF THE PARKING BRAKE
Potentially defective double chamber rear brake actuators may result in application of the parking brake without warning.
Recall affected vehicles and fit quality assured rear brake actuators.
STEERING COLUMN UNIVERSAL JOINT AND COLUMN SUPPORT BRACKET CONCERNS.
(1) The ball joint where the steering column double joint is centred can jump out of its socket. (2) The retaining plates for the ball joint in the upper universal joint in the steering column may work loose and obstruct free rotation of the column. (3) The steering column support bracket fasteners may not have been tightened to the specified torque.
(1) Check the production date of the jointed steering shaft and fit a quality assured replacement where necessary. (2) Check the rivets securing the retaining plates. If the riveting is defective fit a new steering shaft. (3) Check the steering column support bracket fasteners for correct torque.
