    BATTERY GROUND CABLE MAY SHORT CIRCUIT

    Defect

    The battery positive cable may be in conflict with the starter motor solenoid. If a conflict does develop a short circuit of the battery ground cable will occur. This may result in smoke appearing from under the bonnet or a failure to start with warning lamps illuminated.

    Remedy

    Recalled vehicles will have the distance between the battery positive cable checked and adjusted if the clearance is less than 4mm.

    Defect

    Some vehicles may have been manufactured with an automatic transmission parking brake component which may not have been hardened to the correct specification. This could result in the transmission parking brake not engaging when park on the transmission is selected.

    Remedy

    Recalled vehicles will have the parking brake pawl guide plate replaced with a quality assured item.

    At high inclination the sealing boot of the axle 'V' stay ball joint can be damaged and allow the ingress of water and dirt which can cause the ball joint to wear prematurely and cause the axle to become loose.

    Defect

    The heads of the blind rivet pins may detach and in unfavourable circumstances get jammed between the valve and the seat of the blow off valve. This means that the valve will be permanently open and that it is no longer possible to fill the compressed air system completely.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected check the model and date of manufacture on the model plate. If affected remove the cartridge and check if the pin heads on the rivets are still firm. If the pin heads are intact rebuild the drier and mark as checked. If the pins have detached find the loose headsremove them and then rebuild the drier with new seal and damping plate. If the pin heads cannot be found a new drier should be fitted.
