    FLYWHEEL MAY FAIL

    Defect

    The two mass flywheel can become damaged because of a non-optimally designed through-flow restrictor in the clutch pressure pipe. This can lead to a total failure of the flywheel and under unfavourable circumstances to a vehicle fire.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and establish the manufacturer of the two mass flywheel. Where necessary replace the flywheel and the breather of the clutch pressure pipe.

    Under environmental conditions that require intensive use of salt on the roads corrosive deposits accumulate inside the noise-insulating protective sheath located on the front suspension springs creating areas of corrosion which may lead to the spring breaking after a period of time.

    Recalled vehicles will have the ABS harness plug checked for moisture ingress and where necessary the wiring harness and control unit will be replaced. In all other cases the ground cable will be secured against ingress of moisture by soldering the cable sockets and applying shrink tubes.

    ABS MAY FAIL

    Defect

    When work involving removal of the left brake caliper is undertaken (i.e. when a tyre is changed) there is a possibility that the ABS sensor cable can be incorrectly routed when the caliper is reinstalled. If it is incorrectly routed the sensor cable can chafe against the brake disc with the result that the ABS function (not the active braking function)can fail.

    Remedy

    Recalled machines will have the ABS sensor cable rerouted.
