How to check a specific car

  • Get the VIN or VRM. The VIN is on the V5C, on the dashboard at the base of the windscreen, and inside the driver's door jamb. Any UK recall checker will work from either.
  • Run a combined check. A run a £1.99 RecallClear check returns both the DVSA register status and the SMMT manufacturer feed in one £1.99 lookup, so you do not have to remember which Stellantis sub-brand owns which database link.
  • Cross-check at the manufacturer. Each of the brand pages above links to the manufacturer's own VIN-based recall lookup.

What the fix looks like

Free of charge, typically a 30-minute appointment. The dealer replaces the pole protection cap, adds insulation around the 48V system and adjusts the clearance to the GPF pipe. Once carried out, the campaign closes against the VIN.

Why it matters when buying used

A car with an outstanding safety recall is worth less than one that has been seen by a dealer, and you, the new owner, will inherit the obligation to get the fix done. Spending £1.99 on a check before you hand over four-figure cheques is the obvious move.
