DVSA added more than 30,000 UK cars to the recall register in March 2026, across three separate manufacturer campaigns: a Peugeot 208 alternator-area fault, a BMW 3 Series starter-motor recall and the Jaecoo 7 ECU harness campaign. Every fix is free of charge.
Peugeot 208: 13,345 cars, alternator-area fault
- Built: June 2023 to January 2026
- Fault: Contact or reduced clearance between the gasoline particulate filter pipe and the pole protection cap. Water infiltration can cause electrical arcing, the same family of fault behind the wider 44,000-car Stellantis campaign.
- Fix: Dealer replaces the pole protection cap and repositions or replaces the GPF pipe gap as needed. Free of charge.
BMW 3 Series: 9,574 cars, starter-motor problem
- Built: September 2020 to February 2024
- Fault: RSW22 starter components can develop deposits that increase relay contact resistance, triggering false starts or thermal events.
- Owner guidance: Do not leave the car running unattended until the fix has been carried out.
- Fix: Dealer replaces the starter motor. Free of charge.
Jaecoo 7 ICE: 7,317 cars, ECU harness clip
- Built: April to December 2025
- Fault: The ECU harness clip was not fully engaged during assembly. Can trigger engine warning lights and, in the worst case, an unexpected engine stall while driving.
- Fix: Dealer inspects and secures the harness fastener, replacing the harness if it has been worn. Free of charge.
What to do
