    FRACTURE OF FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRING

    Defect

    There is a possibility that the front suspension coil spring could break. Should this occur the unseated section of the spring could puncture the tyre.

    Remedy

    Affected vehicles are being recalled for the installation of a protector which would prevent a broken coil spring from penetrating the tyre.

    POSSIBLE SHORT CIRCUITING

    Defect

    The main cable between the battery and the master switch can contact the edge of the body panel in the boot area. If the panel cuts through the cable insulation a short circuit may occur resulting in potential loss of electrical supply and a possible risk of fire.

    Remedy

    Affected vehicles are being recalled for inspection of the battery cable routing. Where insufficient clearance exists the cable will be repositioned. Additionally if the cable shows signs of wear it will be repaired or replaced as required.

    FRONT WHEEL MAY LOCK UP

    Defect

    The front brake rotor drive pins may move out of position and contact the front brake caliper. This could prevent the front wheel from rotating without prior warning to the rider.

    Remedy

    Affected machines are being recalled to have the original equipment drive pins replaced with quality assured versions with an alternative method of retention.

    Defect

    EFFECTIVENESS OF INTEGRATED CHILD SEAT

    Defect

    The child seat upper base frame and inbuilt seat belt retractor assemblies may not meet the appropriate EC crash testing requirements.

    Remedy

    Integrated child seats supplied with Galaxys from Jan 96 to Apr 1997 are being recalled for replacement of the upper base frames with modified versions. In addition belt retractors are being replaced with modified units on integrated seats supplied with Galaxys built between 1st January 1996 and October 1996. Ford are also advising all other Galaxy owners who have purchased the subject seat.
