DVLA recall archive
The archive holds 15,570 DVLA vehicle safety recalls dating back to 1992. Filter by manufacturer, year, or keyword. To check whether a specific vehicle is affected by an outstanding recall, run a live VRM recall check for £1.99.
Showing 12876–12900 of 15,570 recalls.
ENGINE MAY STALL
Due to improper moulding of the body of the crankshaft position sensor engine oil may penetrate the seal and enter the sensor wiring connector. In this condition the engine oil within the sensor's wiring connector may expand due to engine heat and could deform the sensor. In the worst case the connector may become disconnected which could cause the engine to stall while driving and restarting would not be possible.
Recalled vehicles will have the crankshaft position sensor replaced.
REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT MAY BE TOO SHORT
It is possible that the rear seat belt for the rear seats may be too small and not possible to fasten by certain persons
Recall affected vehicles and replace Seat Belts with correct type.
STEERING COLUMN MAY BECOME LOOSE
The bolt securing the steering shaft to the upper steering column may become loose
Recall affected vehicles and check that the securing bolt is firmly located and correctly torqued. If found loose fit new bolt and tighten to the correct torque.
STEERING COLUMN MAY BECOME LOOSE
The bolt securing the steering shaft to the upper steering column may become loose
Recall affected vehicles and check that the securing bolt is firmly located and correctly torqued. If found loose fit new bolt and tighten to the correct torque.
POSSIBLE LOSS OF DRIVE.
Due to insufficient strength of the rear axle drive shaft flange a fracture might develop under certain driving conditions. In the worst case the flange may become detached causing the vehicle to become immobilised.
Recalled vehicles will have the right and left hand rear axle drive shafts replaced.
FRONT RIGHT HAND SEATBELT FIXING BOLT MAY FAIL
It has been identified on a small number of vehicles that the spacer for the front right-hand seat belt fixing bolt may have been incorrectly fitted. It is therefore possible that in time this could result in the fixing for the assembly becoming insecure.
Recalled vehicles will have the fitting of the spacer checked for compliance with the specification. If found to be necessary the trim will be repositioned and the assembly re-tightened to the correct torque.
POSSIBILITY OF TYRE DEFLATION
On certain Avensis vehicles equipped with 16 inch steel wheels due to the shape of the wheel trim there is a possibility that the edge of the wheel trim may interfere with the sidewall of the tyre. Should this occur whilst the vehicle is being driven the wheel trims may rotate which could lead to interference with the tyre valve. In the worst case and if the vehicle is continuously driven in this condition loss of tyre pressure could ensue.
Recalled vehicles will have the steel wheels (standard equipment) replaced with aluminium alloy wheels.
INTERCOOLER PIPE CLAMP MAY FAIL
There is a possibility that the outlet pipe of the intercooler may fail. In the worst case this could lead to the diesel particulate filter catching fire.
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the intercooler pipe with a countermeasure part.
INJECTOR PIPES MAY FAIL RESULTING IN THE POSSIBILITY OF A VEHICLE FIRE
It has been identified that the possibility exists that the currently fitted fuel injector pipes may fail which under certain circumstances may result in a vehicle fire.
Recalled vehicles will have the injector pipes replaced with those of current the production pending the development of a redesigned pipe. Until such time as theses become available pipes will be changed on a six monthly or 100000 km basis.During the initial stage of this recall subject vehicles will be fitted with an engine bay fire extinguisher system.
THROTTLE MAY STICK
Under certain circumstances the Air Filter retaining screw may work loose and fall out potentially getting caught in the throttle valve and preventing it from closing properly
Recall affected machines and replace Air Filter with one with a revised fixing
STEERING WHEEL MAY FAIL
Steering Wheel can crack and break at hub
Recall affected vehicles inspect wheel hub for cracks and if necessary replace.
RISK OF FIRE
The guide pin in the starter solenoid switch is incorrectly fitted which may cause the starter to overheat and cause smouldering damage.
Recall affected vehicles and replace starter
RISK OF FIRE
The guide pin in the starter solenoid switch is incorrectly fitted which may cause the starter to overheat and cause smouldering damage.
Recall affected vehicles and replace starter
POSSIBLE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL
The ball joint of the steering link rod may detach due to wear between the pin and the housing leading to loss of directional control
Recall affected vehicles and replace link rod with new version
ROOF PANEL MAY DETACH
It is possible for adhesive to fail allowing separation of the roof panel and its frame. If the gradual separation is ignored total separation can occur.
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and where necessary replace the roof panel.
ROOF PANEL MAY DETACH
It is possible for adhesive to fail allowing separation of the roof panel and its frame. If the gradual separation is ignored total separation can occur.
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and where necessary replace the roof panel.
FRONT SEATS MAY NOT LOCK INTO POSITION
There is a possibility that the seat back of the front seats may become difficult to adjust and or not lock into position.
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check that all welding to the seat back frame is present. If the welds are not all present then the seat back frame will be replaced.
POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE BAY FIRE
It has been identified that on a small number of vehicles the possibility exists there may be a short circuit situation within the engine additional heater system during the warm up period which could lead to a fire within the engine compartment.
Recalled vehicles will have the electrical supply to the additional heater modified; in order to avoid the possibility of the short circuit occurring.
SUSPENSION MAY COLLAPSE
There have been a few incidents of welds failing on the rear suspension during race application only that in the worst case will lead to the suspension collapsing.
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to either replace the affected part or reinforce it with a bracket.
CAB MAY SHUDDER WHICH MAY AFFECT STEERING CONTROL
It has been identified that an insufficient tightening torque mat have been applied to the bolts of the cab to chassis front mountings. This can cause the mounting bolts to work loose and the cab to shudder which may affect steering control.
Recalled vehicles will have the cab front mounting bolts checked for the correct tightening torque.
AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN IMPACT
It may be possible that the driver's airbag may not inflate in an optimum manner during a collision.
Recalled vehicles will have the driver's airbag replaced.
BOLTS USED TO SECURE STEERING RACK TO FRONT AXLE MAY FAIL.
The possibility exists that the bolts which secure the steering rack to the front axle may be of the incorrect grade 8.8 instead of R10. A situation which may result in failure of the bolts.
The bolts of recalled vehicles will be checked for compliance with the specification and changed as necessary.
REAR AXLE LEAF SPRING U-BOLTS MAY FAIL.
It has been identified that the possibility exists that the rear axle leaf spring U-bolts may break. A situation which could affect vehicle stability.
The U-bolts of affected vehicles will be checked for dimensional compliance and changed as necessary.
GEARBOX MAY MALFUNCTION
Possible malfunction of the gearbox control causing: 1. Gearbox switching to manual mode without driver intervention; 2. gearbox changing to 3rd gear without driver intervention; 3.incorrect display of lever position on the instrument panel; 4. Auto gearbox warning light illuminates.
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the automatic transmission computer.
