    STEERING CONTROL MAY BE COMPROMISED

    Defect

It has been identified that clamp bolt of the front lower control arm to knuckle fixing may have been incorrectly torqued/tighten this can cause a premature fatigue failure and possible separation of the joint. The driver will receive a warning in the form of noise a ABS warning light on the vehicles instrument panel or the misalignment steering wheel. In addition this is an early life failure. However if the driver does not heed the warning signs then the control the vehicle can be effected which can lead to an increased risk of a crash.

    Remedy

Recall all affected vehicles to replace the affected front lower control arm to knuckle fixing and apply the correct torque. Some vehicles require recall remedy actions to one side only others to both sides of the vehicle.

    ENGINE MAY CUT OUT

    Defect

It has been identified that the bolt that connects the ground cable from the wiring harness of the Digital Motor Electronics (DME) to the engine block may not have been tightened/torqued to the correct specification. This can lead to an under voltage supply which can trigger a reset of the DME. This can result in the engine cutting out or depending on vehicle speed to restart/turn on the engine once the reset has been completed.

    Remedy

Recall all affected vehicles to check and if required retorque the bolt for the ground cable on the engine block.

STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY CORRECTLY

    Defect

It has been identified that due to the non-conforming layout of the airbag wiring and missing cut-proof protection the airbag wiring may interfere with the steering wheel wiring terminal. This can cause the abrasion of the wiring itself. This abrasion may cause a short-circuit and consequent inadvertent deployment of the steering wheel airbag.

    Remedy

Recall all affected vehicles to inspect the airbag wiring and apply cut proof padded tape.
