    SRL251215 – VER-RADBLE

    Defect

As part of our ongoing quality monitoring we have determined that on Actros 963 and eActros 983 vehicles the rear wheel arch cover on the front axle could fall off. A design-related plastic rib that is too high leads to a collision between the wheel arch cover and the fender. Due to the excessively high plastic rib on the rear wheel arch cover of the front axle this may be installed with preload and thus some fastening points may not be fully engaged. As a consequence the engaged fastening points of the wheel arch cover may fracture and the wheel arch cover (931 mm x 652 mm x 70 mm approx. 1.81 kg) may completely detach from the vehicle and fall off due to the dynamic load during driving operation. This may increase the risk of accidents for other road users.

    Remedy

As part of the recall campaign the excessively high plastic rib must be shortened on the potentially affected vehicles.

    High Oil Consumption

    Defect

For affected machines the rate of engine oil consumption may deteriorate quickly. Continued riding without noticing that the amount of oil has decreased could result in reduced oil pressure that may lead to seizure.

    Remedy

Step One is to ensure regular monitoring of oil level to avoid the failure occurring. Please contact your preferred authorised Honda retailer to arrange an appointment to have your oil consumption level checked. Honda is currently finalising step two to ensure the oil consumption issue can be resolved on all affected motorcycles as quickly as possible.
