POSSIBLE MALFUNCTION OF ABS CONTROL UNIT
Some electronic control units for the ABS circuit may not be able to analyse information correctly. This may cause damage to the ABS solenoid valves and could affect braking performance.
The affected vehicles will be recalled to have the electronic control units checked. Where this is found to display a fault code it will be replaced together with the ABS solenoid valves.
POSSIBLE FAILURE OF SEAT BELT LOWER ATTACHMENT RAIL
The front seat belt lower attachment rail may be of insufficient strength and could fail in the event of an accident.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the original seat belt attachment rail with a redesigned version.
POSSIBLE FIRE RISK
Interference could occur between the gearbox wiring harness and the cover for the brake pedal cross shaft located in the front foot well. In time this could damage the harness and cause a short circuit with a consequent risk of fire.
Recall the affected vehicles and protect the wiring harness by fitting a length of protective strip to the lower edge of the cross shaft cover.
THROTTLE MAY STICK IN OPEN POSITION
The teflon bushing may slide out of the throttle cable housing and allow the throttle to stick in the open or partially open condition.
Recall the affected machines and replace the original throttle cable with a quality assured example.
THROTTLE MAY STICK IN OPEN POSITION
The teflon bushing may slide out of the throttle cable housing and allow the throttle to stick in the open or partially open condition.
Recall the affected machines and replace the original throttle cable with a quality assured example.
INSECURITY OF FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY
The front hub bearings may fail leading to insecurity of the hub assembly.
The affected vehicles will have the hub assemblies inspected by a service engineer from the manufacturer. As part of this inspection the hub bearings will be replaced with high grade examples and where damage to any hub is evident this component
POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO BRAKE PIPES
On ABS equipped Punto vehicles contact may take place between the brake compensator springs and the rear (metal) brake pipes. This could damage the pipes causing loss of brake fluid and reducing the efficiency of the service brake.
Recall the affected vehicles and secure the subject brake pipes to eliminate the possibility of any contact with the compensator springs. Any brake pipes found to be damaged will be replaced.
INCORRECTLY RATED TYRES
S maximum speed rated tyres have been fitted. As the vehicle maximum capability exceeds the maximum speed rating of the S rated tyre vehicle stability could be adversely affected on a vehicle travelling in excess of the speed rating.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the tyres with T maximum speed rated examples.
WHEEL NUTS INSUFFICIENTLY TORQUED
The nuts securing the road wheels may not have been tightened to the correct torque and could become loose.
Recall the affected vehicles and tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque. Any damage to wheels or studs caused as a result of undertorqueing will be addressed at the recall.
INSECURITY OF GEARBOX
The bolts securing the clutch housing to the gearbox are incorrectly torqued. This may lead to the gearbox becoming loose.
Recall the affected vehicles and retighten the subject bolts to the correct torque.
FAILURE OF STEERING BOLTS
A batch of bolts used to secure the steering arms to the stub axles are below specification and could fail with loss of steering control. This campaign supersedes recall R1995/025. The parc involved in that recall has been extended and any vehicle
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the subject bolts with quality assured wire locked examples.
LOSS OF TYRE PRESSURE
Due to misplacement of the cap ply tyres may lose pressure through a crack in the butyl inner liner. This may have an adverse affect on vehicle control.
Recall the affected vehicles and check/replace the tyres as necessary with a different construction tyre.
SECURITY OF PASSENGER SEATS
Some passenger seat pedestals may have been incorrectly attached to the vehicle floor. This could result in the seats detaching from the floor in an accident situation.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to have modifications to the seat pedestals carried out. The modified pedestals will be secured by bolts through the steel section of the floor.
WELDING ON FRONT SUSPENSION LOCATING LUG
The welding on the front suspension arm locating lug may not be to the manufacturers specification.
Recall the affected vehicles and inspect the integrity of the subject welding. Where required the welding will be reworked to comply with the manufacturers specification.
THE SEAT BELT CATCH COULD BECOME DETACHED IN A COLLISION SITUATION
There is a possibility that the thread insert which attaches the seat belt catch to the power seat slide rail may not have been manufactured to the vehicle makers standards.
Recall all potentially affected vehicles for inspection and replacement of the thread inserts as required.
LOSS OF BRAKE PRESSURE AND/OR ABS FACILITY
As a result of water penetration corrosion may be present on the brake pressure warning switch connection. This could result in the loss of braking system pressure and may also negate the ABS function.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the warning switch connections for signs of corrosion. If corrosion is present on the connector this will be changed and the switch terminals will be treated with a protective agent. Where corrosion is pres
POSSIBLE FAILURE OF SUSPENSION BALL JOINT
The spherical portions of certain lower suspension ball joints were produced with surfaces which were not smooth. The resulting friction could result in rapid wear and may lead to separation of the ball joint.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the subject ball joints with quality assured examples.
THROTTLE MAY NOT RETURN TO IDLE POSITION
As a result of tightness in the throttle spindle and/or fouling of the speed control cable on the inlet manifold the throttle may not return to the idle position when the accelerator pedal is released.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the speed control cable with the latest level type and if necessary also replace the throttle body assembly with the latest level type.
1) FAILURE OF DRIVE CHAIN 2) STOWAGE OF TOOLS IN COMPARTMENT (ZX600-F1 MODEL ONLY)
1) As a result of incorrect heat treatment the drive chain may crack and ultimately fail. 2) Items or tools placed in the document/tool kit compartment may fall from the compartment into the drive chain area. (ZX600 - F1 model only).
Recall the affected machines and:- A) Replace the drive chain with a quality assured version. B) Replace the tool bag and mounting strap with modified versions and fit an additional cover (ZX600-F1 model only).
