    PARKING BRAKE MAY APPLY UNINTENTIONALLY

    Defect

The brake pipe unions (Air Nipples) on the parking/hand brake system have been tightened above the specified torque setting. This could result in the unions failing and cause an unintentional deployment of the parking/hand brake.

    Remedy

Recall all affected vehicles where the unions will be replaced and the correct torque setting applied.

    FIRE MAY OCCUR

    Defect

Under certain driving conditions the transmission fluid may overheat. Continuous operations under these conditions may cause the fluid to boil over and come into contact with hot exhaust and engine components which might lead to an under bonnet fire.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to reprogramme the cabin compartment computer to add a transmission temperature warning feature. An addendum will also be added to the Owner's Manual.

    FUEL MAY LEAK

    Defect

It has been identified that on certain 1.8 litre engines the fuel feed pipe connection with the swaging tube may be loose. Should this be the case the fuel pipe may detach resulting in a fuel leak.

    Remedy

Recalled vehicles will have the fuel feed pipe connection inspected. The fuel feed pipe will be replaced.

    FIRE MAY OCCUR

    Defect

Fuel may leak from a defective fuel pressure line. Although unlikely there is a potential that an external ignition source could ignite the fuel and result in a fire in the driver's side wheel arch area.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and where necessary replace the fuel pressure line.

    LOSS OF STEERING

    Defect

Concentrated stress at the start of the threaded portion of the tracking link arm can cause metal fatigue which will result in a fatigue fracture. The issue can be identified during routine maintenance. However if the issue is not addressed then failure can occur and steering can fail although the vehicle can be stopped safely.

    Remedy

All the affected machines will have their steering tracking link arm replaced with a new modified arm.
