DVLA recall archive
The archive holds 15,570 DVLA vehicle safety recalls dating back to 1992. Filter by manufacturer, year, or keyword. To check whether a specific vehicle is affected by an outstanding recall, run a live VRM recall check for £1.99.

INCORRECT BRAKING SYSTEM FLUID
The subject vehicles have been equipped with incorrect braking system fluid which may overheat and cause vapour locking.
Recall the affected vehicles purge the braking system of the incorrect brake fluid and refill with fluid of the correct specification.
POSSIBLE MALFUNCTION OF ABS CONTROL UNIT
Some electronic control units for the ABS circuit may not be able to analyse information correctly. This may cause damage to the ABS solenoid valves and could affect braking performance.
The affected vehicles will be recalled to have the electronic control units checked. Where this is found to display a fault code it will be replaced together with the ABS solenoid valves.

THE SEAT BELT CATCH COULD BECOME DETACHED IN A COLLISION SITUATION
There is a possibility that the thread insert which attaches the seat belt catch to the power seat slide rail may not have been manufactured to the vehicle makers standards.
Recall all potentially affected vehicles for inspection and replacement of the thread inserts as required.
VEHICLE JACK IS FAULTY
The jack thrust bearing washer may have a material fault which could allow the vehicle jack to fall when holding the weight of the vehicle.
A) Volvo have written to all involved customers advising them as a short term measure not to use the jack originally supplied with the vehicle. B) The original jacks are being replaced with quality assured units as soon as these become available.
TRACK ROD CLAMPING BOLTS
The front axle track rod clamping bolts may have been insufficiently torqued on assembly.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the clamping bolt torque. If required the bolts will be retorqued to the correct tightness.

INSECURITY OF SUN VISOR
The external sun visor (which is an optional extra) is not sufficiently secured to its mounting bracket on the cab.
Recall all potentially affected vehicles (only a small number will have visors) for checking. All vehicles equipped with a visor will have additional screws fitted to the four mounting brackets.

THROTTLE MECHANISM MAY NOT RETURN TO IDLE POSITION.
Under extreme climatic conditions eg low ambient temperature combined with high air humidity ice crystals may form in the crankcase ventilation system which includes the throttle housing. Should this condition occur ice build up may prevent the throttle from fully closing.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of a modified throttle housing and a new vent hose.
UNINTENTIONAL OPERATION OF THE MASTER SWITCH
The valve for pneumatic operation of the electrical main switch is so located that it is possible for the driver to operate the switch unintentionally. This could cause a total black out of the vehicle.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the pneumatic valve with a modified unit.

HAND CONTROL VALVE FAILURE
Failure of the parking brake valve upper cam plate around the central boss may allow the parking brake to release and could result in the vehicle running away.
Strip the valve and replace the upper cam plate tensioning springs and 'O' ring with quality assured items.

STEERING GEAR SECURITY
The bolts securing the steering gear to its mounting bracket may be loose.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the steering gear mounting bolts for tightness. Where bolts are found to be loose the mounting brackets and bolts will be examined for damage. Damaged bolts will be replaced and any burring of the bracket removed.

POSSIBLE JAMMING OF THROTTLE
A plastic clip may have been left in the engine air inlet hose during initial assembly. Should this clip be drawn into the throttle housing it may cause the throttle to jam.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the engine air inlet hose removing the clip (if present).
FUEL PUMP CONTROL ROD BREAKAGE
Instances of breakage of the control rod within the fuel injection pump have occurred. Should this happen at high engine revs it could affect control of the vehicle since the rod may jam and prevent the engine from returning to idling speed.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the fuel injection pump and its attachments.
INADEQUATE WELDING OF TOWBAR
On some towbars manufactured within a specified period the welding between the ball unit brackets and the crossmember may be defective. In extreme cases this could result in trailer detachment.
Recall all 850 models which have been fitted with towbars and check if the towbar is within the affected range. Where it is established that this is the case the towbar assembly will be replaced with a quality assured unit.
