STEERING BALL JOINT TORQUE
On some vehicles the bolts in the joint of the steering gear shafts may not be correctly torqued.
All potentially affected vehicles are being recalled to have the torque on all the bolts in the four joints in the steering shaft checked and where necessary tightened to the manufacturer's specification.

CRACKING OF SEAT BELT BUCKLE
The steel braided tether of the seat belt buckle is being deformed which can cause it to crack. This can occur as the seats are being moved on the sliding rail. At the same time the tether can be caught and pinched under the seat frames.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for inspection and replacement of either the complete seat belt or the seat belt buckle depending on the type of seat fitted.

POSSIBLE FRACTURE OF TURBO OIL PIPE
The clamp securing the turbo charger oil pipe may break and allow the pipe to fracture due to vibration. This would lead to oil being deposited on the engine with an attendant risk of fire.
Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the turbo charger oil pipe replaced with a hose.
FAILURE OF CERTAIN HOSES
In some instances the hoses on the pressure side of the steering servo and fan propulsion systems may not meet the manufacturers specification and could be liable to failure.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to have the subject hoses replaced with quality assured parts.
POSSIBLE FIRE RISK
As a result of the radio voltage transformers being incorrectly connected the master switch does not isolate the electrical system. It is therefore possible to start the engine with the master switch OFF which could melt the 3 amp voltage transformer and cause a fire within the vehicle.
The affected vehicles are being recalled for the fitment of an alternative voltage transformer with modification to the associated wiring.
WHEEL HUB SECURITY
There is a possibility that the front and rear wheel hubs on both the left and right hand sides of the vehicle were not properly secured to the axles at initial assembly.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to have the hub security arrangement checked and where necessary rectified. Any parts found to be damaged as a result of insecurity will be replaced at the same time.
CRACKING OF REAR SUSPENSION VEE STAYS
Instances of cracking on the tube section of the rear suspension vee stays have occurred.
The vee stays on affected vehicles are being inspected for cracks by Volvo dealers. Where there is no evidence of cracking the stays will be strengthened by the fitment of re-inforcing clamps. In cases where cracking has occurred this will be repaired

FRACTURE OF BRAKE CHAMBER SUPPORT BRACKETS
Instances of cracking or breakage of the brake chamber support brackets have occurred on the second steering axle of the subject vehicles.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of modified brake chamber support brackets.
POSSIBILITY OF THROTTLE STICKING
The throttle plate screws may not have been sufficiently torqued. This could result in sticking of the throttle.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of a replacement throttle housing.
CRACKING OF STEERING PITMAN ARM
There have been instances of some steering Pitman arms cracking.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the original Pitman arms with quality assured versions.
POSSIBLE BLOCKAGE OF INJECTION PUMP CONTROL ROD
On a specific batch of fuel injection pump pressure valve retainers the bottom washer may come undone. This would cause the valve to drop on to the pump element and in extreme cases fragments may block the control rod.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the original pressure valve retainers with quality assured examples.

POSSIBILITY OF AN UNDERBONNET FIRE
A faulty electrical connection at the rear of the alternator can cause arcing with a possible risk of an underbonnet fire.
Recall the affected vehicles for:- A) The installation of a line fuse between the battery and the B+ connection on the alternator. B) Install a non rotational device at the B+ connection at the rear of the alternator. Any B+ cable showing signs of damage
INSECURITY OF CAB MOUNTING CAP BOLTS
There have been instances where the cab mounting cap bolts have been found to be loose.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to have the subject bolts replaced. Any cab mounting brackets found to be cracked will be replaced at the same time.
POSSIBLE DISINTEGRATION OF TURBOCHARGER
There have been instances where the turbocharger shaft wheel assembly has been ground to the incorrect tolerances. This may cause the turbocharger to disintegrate into small pieces.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the turbochargers with quality assured units.
POSSIBILITY OF SHORT CIRCUITING WITH FIRE RISK
The battery main cable may chafe against the front cross member. This could result in a short circuit and possible fire risk.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of an additional cable clamp which will hold the battery cable clear of the cross member. any cables found to have a chafe condition will be replaced.
DRIVE AXLE LOCK-UP WHEN BRAKING IN THE LIGHT LADEN CONDITION
Instances of drive axle lock-up have occurred under normal braking with the outfit in the light laden condition. This could cause a jack-knife situation.
All potentially affected vehicles will be recalled to Volvo Truck dealers for brake threshold and predominance checks. Where required adjustments will be carried out on the trailer predominance and/or load sensing valves.
INSECURITY OF STEERING ARM BRACKETS
Instances have occurred where the threads on the screws securing the intermediate steering arm brackets have stripped due to the presence of foreign particles in the screw holes.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to have the brackets removed the screw hole threads inspected and cleaned and new bracket securing screws fitted.
