TWIN-MASS FLYWHEEL MAY FAIL AND RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE
It has been advised that the twin-mass flywheel can become damaged because of poor internal installation. This can result in a failure of the twin-mass flywheel and under unfavourable circumstances a vehicle fire.
Recalled vehicles will have the twin-mass flywheel replaced.
TRACK ROD NUT MAY NOT BE TORQUED CORRECTLY AND BECOME LOOSE
During manufacture the steering track rod locking nuts may been tightened to an insufficient torque. As a result the attachment of the track rod may become loose.
Recalled vehicles will have the track rod locking nuts replaced on both the left and right hand sides.
HANDBRAKE MAY FAIL
The handbrake may not fully engage and a sudden release of the handbrake potentially allowing the vehicle to 'run away' cannot be ruled out.
Recall the likely to be affected vehicles and replace the handbrake lever and the push button.
FLYWHEEL MAY FAIL
The possibility exists that the two mass flywheel may fail due to the design of the through-flow restrictor in the clutch pressure pipe. In the worst case the failure can result in a vehicle fire.
Affected vehicles will be recalled to establish the manufacturer of the two-mass flywheel and if necessary replace the flywheel and breather of the clutch pressure pipe.
BOLTS OF THE TANDEM FUEL PUMP COVER MAY BREAK
It is advised that on some vehicles fitted with a 3 and 4 cylinder pump injector engine the bolts of the tandem fuel pump cover may break due to a bolt production fault. As a result the pump housing will not be tight and a diesel fuel leak may occur.
Recalled vehicles will have the pump checked for being of a certain manufacture. If found to be within the affected range the pump housing cover bolts will be replaced.

TENSION CRACKS MAY OCCUR ON THE VACUUM PIPE TO THE SERVO
Tension cracks may occur on the vacuum pipe to the brake servo in the area of the connections due to a manufacturing fault. Should a vacuum pipe leak the brake servo will loose it's function. This will result in an increase of force which must be applied to the brake pedal. But will not result in a total failure of the braking system.
Recalled vehicles will have the vacuum pipes checked and if necessary replaced.

FAULTY REAR SEAT BELT LOCKS
It has been identified that on a number of Tourag vehicles the rear seat belts may have been fitted with locks which have a revetting defect.
Recall likely to be affected vehicles and check the rear seat belt locks for compliance. Should they be found to be suffering from the defect the locks will be changed.
RH SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING MAY NOT BE CORRECTLY TORQUED
It has been identified that on some Passat vehicles within the affected Vin range the rear securing bolt of the right hand shock absorber mounting may not have been tightened to the correct torque. The consequence of this being that the securing bolt may break.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the subject bolt.
CLUTCH OPERATION MAY BE AFFECTED
A fracture may occur in the area of the clutch pedal attachment because of poor welding which may affect the operation of the clutch.
On all affected vehicles an additional foot pedal support (additional welding seam) will be fitted
STEERING RACK MOUNTINGS MAY LOOSEN
Wax residue may not have been removed from the steering rack attachment points on the subframe which may result in a loosening of the steering rack.
Recall affected vehicles remove wax from the attachment area and re-tighten rack. At the same time the cooling fan control unit will be checked and if necessary replaced on affected vehicles.
WIRING LOOM MAY CHAFE AND LEFT SEAT CONSOLE MAY NOT WITHSTAND SEVERE REAR CRASH
The foot operated parking brake can chafe on the main wiring loom the left seat console may not withstand a severe rear crash because of faulty welding and on some vehicles with a V^ petrol engine an additional earth connection must be fitted to the fuel tank
Recall affected vehicles fit anti chafing protection to foot operated parking brake check and if necessary replace left seat console and fit additional earth connection to the fuel tank filler neck
BRAKE SERVO VACUUM PIPE MAY CRACK AND LEAK
The brake servo vacuum supply pipe may crack and leak. This could result in a loss of power assistance and require the driver to apply a lot more force to the brake pedal.
Examine the condition of the vacuum supply pipe and fit an improved quality replacement where necessary.
SHATTER CRACKS MAY OCCUR ON VACUUM PIPE TO BRAKE SERVO
Shatter cracks may occur on the vacuum pipe to the brake servo near the connections. If a vacuum pipe leaks a lot more force will be necessary to operate the brake pedal.
The fitted vacuum pipes will be checked and replaced if necessary.
