INTEGRATED STARTER GENERATOR BELT BELT MAY FAIL

    Defect

Due to a lack of strength in the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) Belt may break during usage. If this happens the water pump will become inoperative and the charging light will illuminate. The coolant temperature warning light will also light due to an increase in coolant temperature. In the worst case scenario the engine may stall and not restart.

    Remedy

On affected vehicles replace the ISG belt.

DRIVE CHAIN MAY STRETCH COME OFF OR BREAK

    Defect

When upshifting between first and second gear if the rider fails to engage second gear a neutral condition will exist continued opening of the throttle will cause high engine RPM. If the rider shifts in to second gear without disengaging the clutch under the very high RPM condition an excess load can be applied to the powertrain. This could cause the drive chain to stretch and in the worst case the drive chain could come off or break.

    Remedy

Replace ECM. Inspect drive chain if free play is detected replace drive chain assembly.

BATTERY MAY FAIL TO CHARGE WHICH COULD CAUSE ENGINE TO STALL AND LIGHTS TO FADE

    Defect

Due to incorrect software in the Engine Control Module (ECM) the ENG A-STOP (Engine Auto Stop Start System) OFF light may blink & the ENG A-STOP system may become inoperative. If the car is driven continuously in this condition the lead-acid battery will not be charged. In the worst case there is a possibility that the lights will dim and the engine may stall and not restart due to low battery voltage.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogramme the ECM with corrected software.

RPM MAY NOT DECREASE WITH THROTTLE OPERATION RISK OF FUEL LEAK

    Defect

On affected machines there is a possibility that a bolt dropped into the air cleaner assembly during production could enter the throttle body preventing the decrease of RPM by throttle operation. On affected machines the fuel supply hose may not be correctly connected to the fuel injector which could result in a fuel leak.

    Remedy

Remove air cleaner inspect cleaner and throttle body for foreign material. Check fuel hose connection and re-route if required.

ENGINE MAY STALL AND/OR FAIL TO RESTART

    Defect

The insulation material of wiring for the stator may be damaged by engine heat and a short-circuit between the wiring may occur. Continued use of the motorcycle with this condition may cause the generating current of the stator coil to be reduced and insufficient charging to the battery may result. In the worst case it can lead to the engine stalling during running and/or the engine may be impossible to restart.

    1. POSSIBLE LOSS OF DRIVE 2. THROTTLE MAY STICK 3. RISK OF FIRE

    Defect

    1) The kick starter may not be correctly secure and slip during use. 2) A bolt may have dropped into the air cleaner during assembly. If a bolt is in the air cleaner assembly it is possible for it to enter the throttle body causing the throttle to stick so the rpm cannot be reduced by throttle operation. 3) A fuel hose connector may not have been properly fitted to the injector which can lead to fuel leakage increasing the risk of fire.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and 1) Torque kick starter nut to 55NM 2) Check for foreign material in the air cleaner box. 3) Insert fuel feed pipe onto injector until secure

ENGINE MAY STALL AND/OR FAIL TO START

    Defect
