POSSIBLE FLUID SEEPAGE FROM REAR BRAKE CIRCUIT
There is a possibility of seepage from the rear brake pipe unions above the spare wheel. This will lead to the need for periodic topping up or illumination of the brake fluid low level warning lamp and in extreme circumstances the effectiveness of the foot brake could be impaired.
Recall potentially affected vehicles to check and if required replace the brake pipes.
WIRING HARNESS CHAFING
Possibility of starter motor harness fouling on harness support bracket which may lead to damaged wiring and a potential short circuit or breakdown of the vehicle.
Recall affected vehicles examine harness for damage and repair where necessary. Reposition harness clear of obstructions.
LOSS OF ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS
The main underbonnet harness may become damaged through chafing on the scuttle panel. This could result in stalling and loss of electrical functions.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for the fitment of a protective sleeve to the main wiring harness to prevent chaffing.
FAILURE OF BRAKE SERVO
As a result of incorrect material specification the brake servo diaphragm may fail. This would result in extra pedal effort and an increase in stopping distance.
Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the brake servo replaced with a quality assured unit.
INCORRECT BRAKE COMPENSATOR
An incorrect load sensitive rear brake compensator may have been fitted to some boxer vehicles.
Potentially affected vehicles are being recalled to have the compensator examined. Vehicles equipped with an incorrect unit will have this replaced with the correct type.
INCORRECT BRAKE COMPENSATOR
An incorrect load sensitive rear brake compensator may have been fitted to some 306 models.
Potentially affected vehicles are being recalled to have the compensator examined. Vehicles equipped with an incorrect unit will have this replaced with the correct type.
POSSIBLE SEEPAGE OF FUEL
Fuel may seep from the fuel filter pipe unions.
Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the filter pipe unions examined and secured where required.
SETTING OF BRAKE COMPENSATOR
The load sensitive compensator on the braking system may be incorrectly set.
Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the compensator checked and where required adjusted in accordance with the manufacturers specification.
POSSIBLE CHAFING OF WIRING HARNESS
It is possible for the ignition switch harness to foul on the steering column coupling. This could lead to short circuiting and electrical malfunction.
The affected vehicles are being recalled for the harness to be repositioned.
THE STEERING COLUMN HARNESS MAY FOUL ON STEERING COLUMN
On some 406 models the steering column wiring harness may foul on the steering column and lead to electrical malfunction.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to Peugeot dealers to have the subject harness repositioned.
FUEL FEED PIPE SEEPAGE
Due to possible defective sealing there is a risk of seepage from the fuel feed pipe where it connects to the injector rail on some 405 models.
All vehicles potentially affected by this campaign are being recalled to Peugeot dealers for the fitment of a modified clip to the fuel feed pipe.
SECURITY OF PASSENGER SEATS
Some passenger seat pedestals may have been incorrectly attached to the vehicle floor. This could result in the seats detaching from the floor in an accident situation.
The affected vehicles are being recalled to have modifications to the seat pedestals carried out. The modified pedestals will be secured by bolts through the steel section of the floor.
AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY
The rotary connector on the air bag system can fail and cause interruption to the air bag electrical supply. This may prevent the air bag deploying in the event of an accident.
Recall the affected vehicles for a modification to the air bag electrical system.
POSSIBLE BREAKAGE OF ACCELERATOR CABLE
There is a risk of accelerator cable breakage due to cable kinking when the accelerator pedal is released suddenly.
Recall the affected vehicles for the fitment of a modified accelerator pedal.
FRONT SUSPENSION WISHBONE BRACKET
The welding attaching the front suspension lower wishbone bracket to the subframe may be suspect. In extreme conditions this could affect the driving quality of the vehicle.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the integrity of the subject welding. Where this is not to specification the subframe attachment will be reinforced by bolting or in extreme cases the subframe will be changed.
POSSIBLE PETROL LEAKAGE
The injector retaining clamps may not have been correctly tightened. This could result in leakage of fuel from around the injectors.
Recall the affected vehicles and ensure that the injector clamp bolts are tightened to the manufacturers specification.
DRIVESHAFT NUTS MAY SLACKEN
The driveshaft retaining nuts may slacken due to defective peening.
Recall the affected vehicles and check the driveshaft retaining nuts for security. Any nut showing evidence of defective peening will be renewed and secured as per the manufacturers instructions.
INADVERTENT RELEASE OF THE HANDBRAKE
Due to manufacturing defect the handbrake can be inadvertently released from its applied position.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the original handbrake assembly with a quality assured unit.
