Fuel Pipe Concern
On affected vehicles The brackets used to secure the fuel pipes to the engine may not be tightened sufficiently. If the engine is repeatedly operated at high speed such as during circuit driving vibrations may cause the fuel pipe to resonate potentially causing the pipe to leak. The fuel leakage may increase the risk of fire.
Replace the fuel pipe with a modified part.
Mazda2 Hybrid – Combination Meter Reprogramming
On affected vehicles improper programming of the combination meter display may cause the display to become inoperable and remain blank. This prevents the speedometer from being visible.
Reprogramming of the combination meter with modified software . However if the issue is already present replace the combination meter.
MX-5 Traction/Stability Light May Fail to Illuminate
On affected vehicles the Traction Control System (TCS)/Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) indicator light may not illuminate when abnormal yaw rate characteristics are detected due to a software diagnostic programming error. This issue does not affect vehicle drivability or braking performance.
Replace the DSC Hydraulic Unit/Control Module (HU/CM) with a modified part that includes improved software.
MX-5 Parking Assist Unit Reprogramming
On affected vehicles when reversing obstructions may not be detected correctly due to inappropriate software in the parking assist unit which may increase the risk of an accident.
Reprogram the parking assist unit.
Instrument cluster module software concern
On affected vehicles it is possible that a warning to prompt steering wheel operation may not be indicated on the instrument cluster when the driver releases or loosely grips the steering wheel for a certain period while using the Cruising & Traffic Support.
Reprogram the instrument cluster module.
Inoperable defroster and seat belt warning light
On affected vehicles When the hybrid system is powered on or the engine is started multiple warning messages may be displayed the PHEV high-voltage battery cooling system may not function as intended (only PHEV). The defroster seat belt warning and 360° view monitor functions may not operate as designed.
Reprogram the affected ECUs
ECU Reprogramming
On affected vehicles when the hybrid system is powered on or the engine is started multiple warning messages may be displayed the defroster seat belt warning and 360° view monitor functions may not operate the vehicle may to stall or fail to restart.
Reprogram the affected ECUs.
Transmission Control Module (TCM) software concern
On affected vehicles a fault relating to the software that controls the engine / electric motor clutch may prevent the clutch from re-engaging after braking is carried out.
Update the Transmission Control Module with revised software.
On affected vehicles a fault relating to the Steering rack could result in the driver experiencing a sudden increase in the effort required to steer the vehicle. This could increase the risk of an accident in certain circumstances.

Reapply grease to the steering rack gear teeth and replace the worm gear spring.
On affected vehicles the engine as well as the electric motor may shut down to failsafe mode with little or even no warning.
