RUBBER DIESEL FUEL FEED PIPE MAY HARDEN OR CRACK

    Defect

The diesel fuel feed pipe that supplies fuel to the high pressure pump may deteriorate prematurely. The customer may initially notice the smell of diesel fuel leaking onto the engine. If the concern is not resolved the rubber hose may harden and crack due to fatigue. This in turn could allow the pipe to leak diesel fuel onto the engine. As with all fuel leaks there is a risk of catching fire.

    Remedy

Recall the 24 vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the fuel feed hose.

    FRONT SUSPENSION ARM MAY FAIL

    Defect

The front suspension lower suspension arms may corrode due to insufficient coating of the steel on the inner surfaces. Excessive corrosion could cause weakening of the arms (Thinning of metal). Gradual weakening of the lower suspension arms. Customers are unlikely to notice any symptoms but may notice juddering from suspension area. Ultimately the arm could fracture.

    Remedy

The front suspension lower arms will be checked for corrosion and the thickness of the steel measured. If the thickness of the steel is sufficient the cavities will be filled with cavity wax to prevent corrosion. If the thickness of the steel is below the minimum the arms will be replaced.

    SHIFT LEVER MAY NOT ENGAGE

    Defect

There is a possibility that the shift cable may have been installed incorrectly causing tension on the cable not anticipated in the design. If present this condition could cause the cable to detach from the shiftier assembly's dowel pin preventing the transmission from being shifted. The shift lever can then be moved into the park (P) position while the transmission is still in the last used gear before detachment. If the driver leaves the vehicle without engaging the parking brake there is a possibility the vehicle can roll creating the risk of a crash.

    Remedy

Vehicles affected will have the cable inspected to ensure it is fitted correctly if incorrect the cable will be refitted with a new mounting bush.
