THE PARKING FUNCTION OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MAY NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
Due to the presence of an out of specification component within the automatic gearbox parking brake interlock system. The parking function may not fully engage when the operating lever is moved to park despite all indicators showing that park has been achieved. If the parking brake is not applied the vehicle may roll away if the ignition key remains in the ignition.
Recalled vehicles will have the out of specification component replaced with a quality assured item.

SHORT CIRCUIT MAY OCCUR
The possibility exists due to a lack of clearance between the battery positive cable and the number 1 cylinder fuel injector that the cable may chafe on the injector nut and that a short circuit may ensue.
Recalled vehicles will have the cable inspected and re-routed as required. Additionally the cable will be secured with a modified clip.
MODIFICATION OF HANDBRAKE LEVER
Vehicles with manual transmission having been parked on an incline with the handbrake on and the vehicle out of gear may sometime later roll away. Due to the brake components contracting as they cool.
Recall likely to be affected vehicles and replace the automatic adjuster with a manual system.
YAW RATE SENSOR HAS INTERNALLY DELAMINATED
X-TYPE vehicles equipped with a dynamic stability control may have been fitted with a yaw rate sensor that has internally delaminated this could result in actuation of the control system incorrectly resulting in uneven and unexpected application of the brakes.
Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled and an inspection of the yaw rate sensor will be undertaken. Should a vehicle be found which has been fitted with a sensor within the affected production batch the sensor will be replaced.
POOR ADHESION OF SPACE SAVER SPARE WHEEL SPEED RESTRICTION LABEL
On vehicles supplied with a space saver spare wheel poor adhesion of the speed restriction label could result in the label becoming detached.
Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled at which time the speed restriction label will be replaced.

On vehicles supplied with a space saver spare wheel poor adhesion of the speed restriction label could result in the label becoming detached.
Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled at which time the speed restriction label will be replaced.
POSSIBILE UNINTENTIONAL APPLICATION OF PARKING BRAKE
The possibility exists that the electronic parking brake (EPB) may apply unintentionally which can result in the vehicle decelerating and in extreme cases cause the rear wheels locking up.
Recall likely to be affected vehicles and replace the electronic parking brake module on those vehicles equipped with the AF level of module with one of a later level. Additionally add a link lead and wiper motor suppression module.

Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled at which time the speed restriction label will be replaced.
AIR BAG MAY RUPTURE
The aperture in the dash through which the airbag deploys may not have been correctly finished so leaving a sharp edge. If deployed the air bag may rupture.
Recall affected vehicles remove deployment door inspect aperture and if necessary remove any sharp edges.
AUTO GEARBOX MAY ENGAGE REVERSE WHEN IN FORWARD DRIVE.
(a) In conditions of low oil pressure or a sticking valve in the gearbox with the vehicle stationary in Drive the gearbox will without warning or indication select Reverse. (b) With the vehicle moving forward in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear reverse may be selected without any manual input in the event of a loss of oil pressure in the transmission.
Reprogramme the gearbox gear selector module.

POWER STEERING PIPE MAY CHAFE ON ALTERNATOR TERMINALS
The power steering rack to oil cooler pipe may chafe on the alternator cable terminal. This could cause an electrical short circuit and risk of fire in the facia trim above the driver's footwell also an oil leak and loss of power assistance to the steering.
Check the proximity of the power steering pipe to the alternator terminal. Cable tie the oil pipe clear of the alternator where appropriate replace any damaged pipes and alternator components. Fit a new alternator where found necessary.
INDICATOR TELL TALE MAY NOT SHOW A FAULT WHEN EXTERNAL INDICATORS FAIL
When power is lost to the external indicators the internal tell tale lamp continues to flash as if there was no fault which is in contravention of the UK requirements.
Replace the general electrical control module with one which has modified software.
FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION BALL JOINT MAY FAIL
An under torque condition may exist in the front lower ball joint. This may result in a high bending fatigue loading of the joint which could result in a fracture of the first thread of the ball stud which then leads to separation of the lower control arm from the knuckle. This separated condition will limit steering control.
Recall affected vehicles and check ball joint security and condition. Replace vertical link if necessary.
SEAT BELT BUCKLE CONCERN
A component within each front seat belt buckle may have received insufficient heat treatment. This may result in unintentional release of the set belt latch if it is subjected to a loading which exceeds the standard specified by EEC Regulation 16 during an accident.
Recall vehicles and check production date codes on both front seat belt buckle assemblies. Replace all buckle assemblies falling within the affected production dates with quality assured units.
POSSIBILITY THAT GEARBOX MAY LOCK UP
Possibility that the automatic transmission may lock up at speeds below 15mph.
Recall affected vehicles and fit a new quality assured automatic gearbox.

Recall affected vehicles and fit a new quality assured automatic gearbox.
POSSIBLE DISENGAGEMENT OF DIFF OUTPUT SHAFT
Resulting from a low incidence process concern at a supplier it has been found that the differential output shaft retaining rings on the rear suspension of a small number of XK8's may under extreme driving conditions become displaced. This can ca
The subject vehicles are being recalled to Jaguar dealers to have the installation of the retaining rings inspected. Where the installation does not conform to the manufacturers specification the rings will be replaced with quality assured examples.
SECURITY OF TRACK ROD ENDS
The torque of the track rod end retaining nuts may relax and allow the nuts to loosen.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the existing track rod end nuts with quality assured examples.
LEAKAGE FROM POWER STEERING HOSE
Oil may leak from the crimping on the power assisted steering high pressure hose. This could result in loss of steering power assistance.
Recall affected vehicles and replace the original high pressure hose with a quality assured example.
