POWER STEERING PIPE MAY CHAFE ON ALTERNATOR TERMINALS

    Defect

The power steering rack to oil cooler pipe may chafe on the alternator cable terminal. This could cause an electrical short circuit and risk of fire in the facia trim above the driver's footwell also an oil leak and loss of power assistance to the steering.

    Remedy

Check the proximity of the power steering pipe to the alternator terminal. Cable tie the oil pipe clear of the alternator where appropriate replace any damaged pipes and alternator components. Fit a new alternator where found necessary.

FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION BALL JOINT MAY FAIL

    Defect

An under torque condition may exist in the front lower ball joint. This may result in a high bending fatigue loading of the joint which could result in a fracture of the first thread of the ball stud which then leads to separation of the lower control arm from the knuckle. This separated condition will limit steering control.

    Remedy

Recall affected vehicles and check ball joint security and condition. Replace vertical link if necessary.
