FRACTURE OF FRONT COIL SPRINGS
The anti noise plastic shields fitted to the bottom of the front suspension coil springs may permit the accumulation of a high level of humidity under certain environmental conditions. When combined with the presence of salt and small stones etc. this condition may cause breakage of the spring(s) and subsequent tearing of the tyre as a result of the fractured coils contacting the tyre wall.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for the fitment of a modified ventilated spring sheath and inspection of the front coil springs.
SEAT BELT PRE TENSIONERS MAY FAIL TO ACTIVATE
On some Punto vehicles it has been found that the seat belt pre-tensioners may fail to activate although normal activation of the seat belt is assured.
Recall affected vehicles to shorten the safety tabs in the inertia reel.
POSSIBLE REDUCTION IN BRAKE SERVO ASSISTANCE
On batteries fitted with non-watertight caps rainwater from the windscreen may run into the battery and result in a leakage of battery contents. This leakage may damage the adjacent fabric reinforced rubber brake servo pipe and reduce or cancel the servo assistance available when braking.
Affected vehicles are being recalled to have a cover fitted to the battery and checking of the brake servo pipe for damage.
LOSS OF BRAKING EFFICIENCY
A defective retaining clip may allow the throttle cable to chafe against certain rigid brake pipes. This could damage the pipes and result in a reduction in braking efficiency.
Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the subject retaining clip replaced with a modified version.

Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the subject retaining clip replaced with a modified version.
BRAKE PIPE DAMAGE
On certain vehicles it is possible that the power steering high pressure hose may contact the offside front rigid brake pipe. This could result in damage to the brake pipe with a resultant reduction in braking efficiency.
Affected vehicles are being recalled for a check on the positioning of the pipes involved and adjustment of the pipe clearance where necessary.
POSSIBLE LOSS OF BRAKE SERVO ASSISTANCE
After extended high speed running brake servo assistance may be lost due to petrol contamination of the servo diaphragm.
The affected vehicles are being recalled for replacement of the servo brake vacuum pipe and checking of the brake servo efficiency.
SECURITY OF SEAT BELT
A number of the subject vehicles have been fitted with seat belts manufactured by TRW the attachment systems of which may not remain secure in an accident situation.
Recall the affected vehicles check the date of production on the seat belt buckles and replace those within the critical batch.
POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO BRAKE PIPES
On ABS equipped Punto vehicles contact may take place between the brake compensator springs and the rear (metal) brake pipes. This could damage the pipes causing loss of brake fluid and reducing the efficiency of the service brake.
Recall the affected vehicles and secure the subject brake pipes to eliminate the possibility of any contact with the compensator springs. Any brake pipes found to be damaged will be replaced.

INCORRECT SPARE WHEEL
Some vehicles with alloy wheels may have been supplied with an unsuitable space saver spare wheel. If fitted this spare wheel could cause interference with braking system components.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace any unsuitable spare wheels with correctly specified versions.

Recall the affected vehicles and replace any unsuitable spare wheels with correctly specified versions.
POSSIBLE FAILURE OF FRONT SPRING
A specific batch of vehicles have been equipped with front suspension coil springs which may suffer from localised corrosion. This can cause breakage of the springs with an adverse effect on vehicle control.
Recall the affected vehicles and replace the original coil springs with quality assured examples.
