PINION NUT MAY LOOSEN
For 5.10 type axle the pinion nut may over an extended period of time. become loose due to an undersized pinion shaft spline. This may cause the pinion flange to separate and in extreme cases the differential may seize.
On affected vehicle check pinion nut for tightness and fit a locking plate to the nut to prevent nut movement.
PROPELLER SHAFT MAY DETACH
Due to an error in production the pinion shaft may not be sufficiently hardened and may fail. This may cause loss of drive and the prop shaft may detach at the pinion.
On affected vehicles examine and carry out torque check. Where necessary replace differential.

STEERING MAY BE AFFECTED
During production the bolt and nut which secures the universal joint to the steering shaft may not have been tightened correctly on production. This may cause irregularities in steering operation.
Check components and bolt tightness . Replace components where necessary

BRAKE PIPES MAY CRACK
Further to Recall 440 (R2012/059) and investigations undertaken by DAF it is suspected that the most likely cause of cracked Hytrel brake pipes in Circuit 3 (hand brake circuit) is due to stress on the air pipe in combination with a certain chemical agent that may be used in the cleaning of vehicles.
As a result it is necessary to replace Voss couplings with the Raufoss type coupling on Circuit 3.

POSSIBLE AIR LEAKS ON BRAKE CIRCUIT
As part of an ongoing investigation and improvement process there is a requirement to inspect the air piping connections on the hand brake circuit (Circuit 3) for completeness and serviceability.
Recall all affected vehicles for inspection of pipework and report finding to manufacturer.
