CHAFING OF BRAKE PIPES
There may be inadequate clearance between one or both brake pipes at the master cylinder and a coolant pipe bracket on the cylinder head. Intermittent contact can consequently occur due to engine movement under high load. Should any of the brake
Recall the affected vehicles and inspect and re-route the subject brake pipes. Any brake pipes found to be damaged will be replaced.
POSSIBILITY OF VEHICLE ROLLING AWAY WHILST PARKED
Instances have occurred of Xantia vehicles moving away following an incomplete application of the parking brake by the driver.
Recall the vehicles to fit a modified parking brake lever which will prevent the driver from making only a partial application of the parking brake.
FRONT BRAKE PIPE CHAFE CONDITION
It is possible that the front brake pipe may be contacted by the anti-roll bar link rod. In extreme conditions this may result in fluid leakage and partial loss of braking.
The affected vehicles will be recalled and inspected for contact between the brake pipes and the anti-roll bar link. If no contact has taken place the pipe(s) will be re-set to ensure adequate clearance . Any pipes showing signs of contact will be replaced
APPLICATION OF PARKING BRAKE
Due to the possibility of incomplete application of the parking brake by the driver the vehicle could roll away when parked.
The manufacturer will write to all Xantia owners enclosing an amendment for insertion in the vehicle handbook. This will amplify and reinforce the instructions relating to the operation of the parking brake.
HARDENING OF FUEL LINES
Due to the effects of age and temperature the underbonnet rubber fuel lines may harden. This could lead to the possibility of fuel leakage particularly when the engine is cold.
Recall the affected vehicles for replacement of the existing fuel pipes with the modified versions introduced to production vehicles in 1992.
CLUTCH LEVER MAY FOUL ENGINE WIRING
There is a possibility that the clutch lever may foul a moulded clip which secures the engine wiring harness. Should this occur the clip may open releasing the harness and making it liable to chafing and damage by the clutch lever.
Recall the affected vehicles and substitute a nylon fixing strap for the original moulded harness clip. This will ensure adequate operating clearance for the clutch lever.
