REAR SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING MAY FAIL

    Defect

It has been identified that the lower rubber mounting on the metal bush of the rear shock absorbers may fail to meet the quality requirement. Dependant on the mileage and operating conditions the rubber mounting may come completely free from the shock absorber. If this occurs the bodywork would no longer be supported above the wheels causing it to come into contact with the wheel concerned. Should this occur the possibility exists that a critical driving condition might occur or even the risk of an accident.

    Remedy

Recalled vehicles will have the rear shock absorbers checked and replaced if necessary.

    ABS MAY FAIL

    Defect

In certain exceptional circumstances (constant use of the ABS) it is possible for the ABS to stop functioning. This is as a result of excessive pressure building up in the ABS system.

    Remedy

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and fit modified brake discs which will decrease the volume in the brake system caused by very high temperatures and thereby discourage the 'overpressure' effect.

REAR TYRE MAY HAVE SUDDEN LOSS OF TYRE PRESSURE

    Defect

There is a possibility that the tyres on the affected vehicles may have been damaged when they were fitted to the rim. If the tyres have been damaged this may lead to a sudden loss of pressure in the rear tyres.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace all the tyres

    CLUTCH MAY FAIL

    Defect

It is possible for some clutch components to work loose while the motorcycle is being ridden and punch out through the engine block possibly endangering the health and safety of the rider.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the clutch assembly.

    ABS MAY FAIL

    Defect

When work involving removal of the left brake caliper is undertaken (i.e. when a tyre is changed) there is a possibility that the ABS sensor cable can be incorrectly routed when the caliper is reinstalled. If it is incorrectly routed the sensor cable can chafe against the brake disc with the result that the ABS function (not the active braking function)can fail.

    Remedy

Recalled machines will have the ABS sensor cable rerouted.

    ABS FUNCTION MAY FAIL

    Defect

There is a possibility of the ABS sensor cable sagging into a loop in the vicinity of the front brake left caliper following disassembly work i.e. a tyre change. This can result in the sensor cable chafing against the brake disc with the result that the ABS function can fail.

    Remedy

Recalled machines will be fitted with an additional sensor cable retaining clip.

    THROTTLE CABLE MAY JAM

    Defect

There is a small possibility of small objects becoming lodged between the throttle valve stub and the engine block. A foreign object lodged in this position could block the movement of the throttle cable pulley and this in turn could lead to a critical situation on the road.

    Remedy

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and fit covers to the throttle cable pulleys.

    ENGINE MAY CUT OUT

    Defect

It is possible for water to ingress into the cavity underneath the fuel pump electronics and corrode the electrical contacts of the fuel pump. This will lead to sporadic failure of the fuel pump and cause the engine to cut out and possibly back in.

    Remedy

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and where necessary fit a new O ring seal under the body of the fuel pump body. Additionally if necessary replace the fuel pump unit.

FRONT SEAT BACK-REST HEATER MAY OVERHEAT

    Defect

Mechanical loads exerted on the back-rest heating element of the front seats when persons enter or exit the vehicle may result in damage to the door side contact line in the back-rest padding. In the event that this causes a break of a contact line the damaged area may overheat to unacceptable levels with the heater switched on. It would then not be possible to rule out the risk of minor burns to the occupants clothes and possibly their skin.

    Remedy

Recall affected vehicles and check condition where necessary fit an additional in-line fuse.
